Heart Math Tutoring is a local nonprofit that recruits and trains volunteers to be tutors for elementary school students for 30 minutes or 1 hour per week. Heart gives an easy-to-follow curriculum with hands-on activities and games, and a staff person is on-site to monitor student progress and to make sure that volunteers feel supported.

Heart Tutoring will be in 21-23 CMS elementary schools across Charlotte for the 2019/20 school year and we are looking to find volunteers to serve over 1,000 students!

Below are the key points that you can share with community members:

• Heart Tutoring is recruiting tutors for 1,100 elementary students who are 2-3 years below grade level.
• Volunteers receive training, an easy/fun curriculum, and support on-site from a Heart staff person.
• We ask volunteers to commit 30 min or 1 hour per week from October until May.
• It is typically easy to reschedule for a different day when conflicts arise. The commitment shakes out to 20-25 weeks at the school.
