Statement regarding Coventry Pool

Wednesday, May 29, 2018

As a result of the poor season opening last Friday and the issues over the weekend, some of the Board members and Angie our Association Manager with Hawthorne had a meeting, at Coventry pool with the leadership of Swim Club Management. Swim Club Management is the new pool management company hired late last year to service both pools, Berkshire and Coventry. As most are aware, the Berkshire pool is currently closed for repairs. The Berkshire pool was resurfaced and should reopen in the near future once the final inspections are completed.

We discussed the issues with and at the Coventry pool. The main concern at the Coventry pool are the stains at the bottom of the pool and on the pool walls. The stains are a result of poor off season maintenance provided by the previous pool service. Swim Cub Management confirmed that they have tried to remove these stains many times, using cleaning agents and steel brushes. These are not algae or mildew but stains. They are not harmful or dangerous. The pool was inspected by the health department and passed the inspection. The Inspector did say that we must have the pool resurfaced next year in order to re-open for the 2020 season. We are working to receive bids to have the Coventry pool resurfaced. Some of the other items of concern were the general upkeep of the restrooms, garbage around the pool areas, daily cleaning and removal of debris in the pool. It was confirmed that every day an Attendant from Swim Club Management will come to the pool to skim the pool, straighten the chairs, pick up any trash around the pool and service the restrooms. The Attendant on duty during pool hours is responsible for keeping the pool area tidy, checking in guest and checking pool chemical levels. Each Attendant is required to keep a log of these activities.

Additionally, we are asking everyone to adhere to the pool rules that are currently posted and were sent out to each homeowner/tenant. These are also available to you on our website via NeighborConnect. During an inspection that was conducted earlier in the day (5/29), we found clothes, goggles, toy parts, food waste, and other items either in the areas surrounding the pool or in the pool. Please help us to keep the pool area clean by placing any trash in the trash receptacles located around the pool area. We have also fielded a few complaints regarding profane language. We are asking everyone to please refrain from the use of profanity out of respect to everyone using the pool.

We understand that this situation has frustrated a lot of you. Over the course of the last week, many of you provided us with feedback. We would like to thank you not only for bringing this to our attention, but for your continued patience. Rest assured; we are continuing to work with Swim Club Management to improve the experience at our facilities. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, always feel free to send us an email at berkshirecoventryhoa@gmail.com.

Thank you
